Worley is delivering a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the onshore substation of the Green Volt Offshore Windfarm project. The customer, Green Volt, is a joint venture between Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn.

Located North of Peterhead, UK, the substation will connect to a floating offshore wind farm in the North Sea. The overall project has a planned capacity of 560MW and is on track to become Europe’s first commercial scale floating windfarm.

The FEED is already underway, with completion expected in May 2026. Delivery is being led by the Global Integrated Delivery center in India. The scope also includes the electrical low voltage design for the substation, with a collaborative interface to the high voltage equipment.

Marino Barbi, Senior Vice President UK said, 'This is a key project that will provide a sustainable energy supply to the UK’s market, and we’re excited to be part of it. This work aligns perfectly with Worley’s own ambitions and I’m proud that our people are supporting Green Volt’s efforts to meet energy demands efficiently, cost effectively, and sustainably.'

Matthew Green, Project Director for Green Volt said, 'Green Volt is proving floating wind technology can scale. There is huge opportunity to build a UK supply chain ready to act on the global opportunities ahead. We’re delighted to welcome the support of Worley as it leads the delivery of the onshore substation FEED from Aberdeen, our home city. Green Volt is a highly ambitious project, designed for rapid deployment and today’s announcement takes us one step closer.'

This contract also has the option for Worley to tender for further support to the Green Volt Offshore Windfarm project in the later engineering, procurement and construction/construction management phase.
