Chile: ACCIONA Energía to install a 1GWh battery in the Atacama desert
ACCIONA Energía has announced the construction of a 1GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Malgarida photovoltaic complex (238MWp), in the Atacama Desert in Chile. With commissioning expected in early 2027, it will be one of the largest battery storage projects in Latin America. -

US: TotalEnergies to supply renewable power to Google’s data centers for 15 years
TotalEnergies and Google have signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply Google with a total volume of 1.5 TWh of certified renewable electricity from TotalEnergies’ Montpelier solar farm in Ohio. The solar facility, nearing completion, is connected to the PJM grid system - the largest in the United States - and will support Google’s data center operations in Ohio. -

Report shows 13% increase in floating offshore wind capacity worldwide
RenewableUK’s latest EnergyPulse Insights Floating Offshore Wind report shows that, despite political headwinds, floating wind installations have increased by 13% over the past twelve months to 277 megawatts (MW) - up from 245MW a year ago – and are set to grown nearly ten-fold to 2,500MW by 2030. -

Norway: Vår Energi confirms oil in appraisal well near the Goliat field in the Barents Sea
Vår Energi's appraisal well 7122/8-4 S confirms the 7122/8-3 S ('Zagato') oil discovery, which was proven in February. The licensees are considering tying the discovery back to existing infrastructure on the Goliat field. -

UK: OEUK responds to Scottish Parliament debate on Rosebank
Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), the leading representative body for the UK’s offshore energy sector, has responded after MSPs voted on the future of the Rosebank project at Holyrood. MSPs backed a Scottish Government amendment from Business Minister Richard Lochhead that removed the Scottish Greens’ call to oppose the development.
