Germany: RWE gets green light to move Australia’s first eight-hour battery from commissioning to full operations
RWE has received official sign-off from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and Transmission Network Service Provider Transgrid to operate Australia’s first eight hour Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at full capacity. The Limondale BESS comprises 144 Tesla Megapacks that are uniquely registered to charge at 100 megawatts (MW) and discharge at 50 megawatts (MW). -

Germany: Vattenfall is building the first solar park with low-emission steel
Vattenfall is breaking new ground in the construction of the large open-field solar park 'Juliusburg / Krukow' in Schleswig-Holstein, using low-emission steel from its Swedish partner SSAB for the PV mounting systems for the first time. This reduces CO2 emissions in the construction and supply chain by 67 percent compared to conventional steel. It is the company's next step in supporting the decarbonization of industry and thus driving societal progress. -
