The University of Aberdeen has launched the UK's first postgraduate degree programme in Energy Transition Systems and Technologies. The new course will educate to MSc level a new generation of systems engineers providing industry-relevant skills and training, with future career possibilities in all areas of the energy sector.

This year marks the beginning of a recovery after a disappointing 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic caused sanctioning of offshore projects to dip to $44 billion from $99 billion the year before. Rystad Energy projects offshore sanctioning to rebound to at least $56 billion in 2021 and keep rising to as high as $131 billion in 2023.

BHP announces operational review for half year ended 31 December 2020
BHP has announced an operational review for the half year ended 31 December 2020. Total petroleum production decreased by 12 per cent to 50 MMboe. Guidance for the 2021 financial year remains unchanged at between 95 and 102 MMboe.

Argentina: President Energy announces H1 2021 drilling update
President has a firm programme to drill four new slim hole gas wells in the Las Bases and Estancia Vieja Concessions in Rio Negro Province commencing during March.
