Cyprus and Egypt ink deal for subsea gas pipeline
Europe stands to gain from an agreement Egypt is set to sign with the Mediterranean island nation of Cyprus to pipe offshore natural gas to processing plants in the north African country where it will be liquefied for export, Egypt’s oil minister said.

UK: Cuadrilla granted hydraulic fracturing consent for second horizontal shale gas well
Cuadrilla has received hydraulic fracturing consent from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for its second horizontal shale exploration well at its Preston New Road site in Lancashire. Consent was granted for the first horizontal well in July this year. Planning and permits required for both wells are already secured.

Norway: Equinor contracts West Hercules for Barents Sea drilling
Seadrill Norway Operations has been awarded a contract for drilling two exploration wells for Equinor in the Barents Sea using the West Hercules rig. Drilling is scheduled to start in the spring of 2019. The contract includes options for drilling nine additional wells.

Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority has given Aker BP, the operator of production licence PL 869, consent to drill exploration well 24/9-13. The well is in the North Sea, close to the Bøyla and Alvheim fields.

Orsted has signed an agreement to sell 50% of the 1,218MW offshore wind farm Hornsea 1 to Global Infrastructure Partners. Hornsea 1 is under construction and will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm when commissioned in 2020.

Global Petroleum has signed a Petroleum Agreement to acquire Block 2011A offshore Namibia. Block 2011A is located in the northern Walvis basin, immediately to the east of the Company's current licence, PEL0029, which comprises Blocks 1910B and 2010A.

Norway: Equinor granted drilling permit for well 7324/3-1 in PL 615
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Equinor a drilling permit for wildcat well 7324/3-1 in PL 615. The well will be drilled about 13 km west of the 7325/1-1 gas discovery, Atlantis, and about 30 km northwest of the 7325/4-1 oil/gas discovery, Gemini Nord, and will test the Intrepid Eagle prospect.

China: CNOOC commences production at the Penglai 19-3 oilfield 1/3/8/9
CNOOC Limited has announced that the Penglai 19-3 oilfield 1/3/8/9 comprehensive adjustment project has commenced production. The project, located in south central Bohai Sea, is expected to reach its peak production of approx. 58,700 barrels of crude oil per day in 2020.
