Vestas to test Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Vestas will pilot Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at the Baltic Eagle Wind Farm in the Baltic Sea during 2024. The pilot project entails Vestas technicians and jack-up vessel crew using helicopters partly powered by SAF to transport themselves to and from the Baltic Eagle wind farm during the construction phase of 50 offshore wind turbines.

Seatrium secures FPSO newbuild contracts P-84 and P-85 from Petrobras
Seatrium has won an international tender from Petrobras, acting as operator of Atapu and Sepia consortiums, for the newbuild supply of Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO) platforms P-84 and P-85. With the contracts valued at approx. S$11 billion, these high throughput FPSOs will be deployed in the Atapu and Sépia fields, located in the eastern part of the Santos Basin.

Norway: SLB OneSubsea awarded contract for Phase 3, Stage 2 of Equinor’s North Sea Troll project
SLB has announced the award of a sizeable contract by Equinor to its OneSubsea joint venture. The award leverages an existing long-term contract for the execution of the second stage of Phase 3 for Equinor’s Troll project in the North Sea, offshore Norway. The objective for Troll Phase 3, Stage 2 is to accelerate production from the reservoir equivalent to about 55 billion standard cubic meters of gas.

US: BOEM releases final Environmental Impact Statement for two wind projects offshore New Jersey
In support of the Biden-Harris administration’s goal of deploying 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy capacity by 2030, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has announced the availability of the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for two wind energy projects offshore New Jersey. If approved, the two projects could generate about 2,800 megawatts of electricity, enough to power almost 1 million homes.

Norway: Var Energi sells Bøyla asset as part of portfolio optimisation
Vår Energi has signed an agreement with Concedo for the disposal of a 20% interest in the Bøyla field for a consideration of USD 24 million. The Bøyla field is a mature producing field located in the North Sea operated by Aker BP (80%). The field started production in 2015 and is developed with a subsea template tied-back to the Alvheim FPSO.

Norway: Equinor investing to maintain high gas production at Troll
Equinor and the Troll partners have decided to invest just over NOK 12 billion to further develop the gas infrastructure in the Troll West gas province. This will accelerate production from the reservoir and thus maintain the current high gas export levels from the Troll and Kollsnes value chain leading up to 2030.

UK: Carbon Storage levy: Call for evidence response - NSTA
The North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) ran a call for evidence between 4 December 2023 and 26 January 2024 on the potential principles, design and timing of a possible future levy on UK carbon storage licences. After reviewing the submissions to the call for evidence, the NSTA has published a response, stating that it intends, unless there are major external developments, to introduce a carbon storage levy in the future, once the CCS industry is on a more self-sustaining footing.

Turkey: Trillion Energy commences work program at SASB gas field
Trillion Energy International has commenced operations program at the SASB gas field, Turkey which will occur over a two-month period. Australia: Mainstream Renewable Power and Someva Renewables awarded a 500 MW investigative permit for onshore wind farm in New South Wales
Mainstream Renewable Power, the global pure-play renewable energy company, and Someva Renewables, an Australia-based renewable energy developer, have been awarded a permit by the Forestry Corporation of New South Wales, Australia to jointly investigate an onshore wind farm at Sunny Corner with a potential capacity of approximately 500 MW.

UK: Leading energy companies launch new Humber Hydrogen Hub projects in Parliament
Leading energy companies Equinor, Centrica and SSE Thermal have launched plans for a collaboration of multiple low carbon hydrogen projects on the north bank of the Humber which also link to wider plans within the region. The plans, which include the transformation of the Easington gas terminal, were launched yesterday in the Houses of Parliament to an audience of MPs, civil servants, industry bodies and regional stakeholders.
