US: Pantheon Resources provides update on Alkaid-2 well
Pantheon Resources has provided an operational update on the Alkaid-2 well, the Company's first horizontal well on the Alaska North Slope. Despite being partially blocked with approx. 1,000 feet of frac sand, the Alkaid-2 well is flowing naturally into Pantheon's recently commissioned permanent production facilities at a rate of over 500 bpd of hydrocarbon liquids, as well as significant natural gas, from an estimated 4,000 ft of lateral.

UAE: ADNOC allocates USD 15 billion to low-carbon solutions
ADNOC has announced a bold new strategy to progress the world-scale decarbonization of its operations. $15 billion has been earmarked for landmark decarbonization projects by 2030 including carbon capture, electrification, new CO2 absorption technology and enhanced investments in hydrogen and renewables.

Neoen, one of the world’s leading producers of exclusively renewable energy, completed financial close in December 2022 on the first 209 MW of its 412 MW Goyder South Stage 1 wind farm located near Burra, in the Mid North region of South Australia.

Equinor and German energy major RWE to cooperate on energy security and decarbonization
Equinor and RWE have agreed to work together to develop large-scale value chains for low carbon hydrogen. The partners aim to replace coal fired power plants with hydrogen-ready gas fired power plants in Germany, and to build production of low carbon and renewable hydrogen in Norway that will be exported through pipeline to Germany.

Norway: Odfjell Drilling announces new contract win for Deepsea Yantai
Odfjell Drilling has announced that on behalf of CIMC OFFSHORE, the Company has agreed a contract with PGNiG Upstream Norway for the use of the drilling rig Deepsea Yantai. The contract includes the drilling of one firm well, 'Tomcat', in PL 1055 in the Norwegian Sea, with the option to drill two further wells in 2024.

Canada: Detailed evaluation to begin on Pathways Alliance proposed carbon storage hub
The Pathways Alliance, representing Canada’s largest oil sands producers, has entered into a Carbon Sequestration Evaluation Agreement with the Government of Alberta. The agreement enables the Alliance to immediately start a detailed evaluation of its proposed geological storage hub which would be one of the world’s largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

UK: Ithaca Energy announces drilling activity update
Ithaca Energy has announced a drilling update for the Isabella and K2 wells in the UK North Sea. The TotalEnergies -operated Isabella well encountered hydrocarbons in Upper Jurassic and Triassic sandstone reservoirs, with 148 feet (or 45 meters) of net thickness. Ithaca Energy and partner Dana Petroleum have made the decision to carry out exploration drilling in Block 22/14c of the Central North Sea – the K2 prospect.

Angola: Shelf Drilling announces further contract extension on the Shelf Drilling Tenacious
Shelf Drilling has secured a further 12-month extension on the Shelf Drilling Tenacious jack-up rig in direct continuation of its current contract for drilling operations offshore Angola. The rig is now committed until November 2024.

UK: New wind energy generation record set for the third time in a year
RenewableUK is highlighting a new wind energy generation record set on Friday 30th December and confirmed by National Grid ESO. National Grid ESO also announced that a new record was set on the same day for the percentage of low-carbon electricity (renewables and nuclear) generated in a half-hour period, which reached 87.2%.

Talos Energy has announced that the Company's Lime Rock and Venice prospects both successfully discovered commercial quantities of oil and natural gas during sequential drilling operations in Q4 2022. The deepwater discoveries are located near the Company's 100% owned and operated Ram Powell platform, where future production from both wells will flow via subsea tiebacks.

Germany: First LNG cargo arrives at Germany’s LNG terminal in Wilhelmshaven
On Jan 3, Uniper brought Germany’s first full cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the new LNG terminal, operated by Uniper, in Wilhelmshaven. The LNG ship Maria Energy, owned by Tsakos Energy Navigation, a major energy mover, was loaded in Calcasieu Pass, USA, at the liquefaction facility of the LNG supplier Venture Global Calcasieu Pass, LLC, on December 19, 2022.

Egypt: United Oil and Gas completes drilling operations on the ASW-1X exploration well
AIM-listed United Oil & Gas has announced the completion of drilling operations on the ASW-1X exploration well in the Abu Sennan licence, onshore Egypt. Although the well encountered net reservoir in the Abu Roash, Bahariya, and Alam El Bueib targets, the logs did not indicate the presence of hydrocarbons.

Malaysia: Baker Hughes to supply key technology for one of the world’s largest offshore CCS facilities
Baker Hughes has been awarded a contract to supply carbon dioxide (CO2) compression equipment to PETRONAS Carigali’s Kasawari offshore carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project in Sarawak, Malaysia. The project is expected to be the world’s largest offshore CCS facility, with capacity to reduce CO2 emissions by 3.3 million tons per annum (MTPA).

Angus Energy has announced that gas volumes produced and sold at Saltfleetby equalled 5.6 million Therms in aggregate for the months of October, November and December combined or 1.87 million Therms per month all in excess of both hedged volumes and predictions made in the Competent Person’s Report of January 2020.
