Oman: Shell announces the start of gas production from Block 10 in Oman
Shell Integrated Gas Oman, a subsidiary of Shell, has announced the start of gas production from the Mabrouk North East field in Block 10 in Oman. Production from Block 10 is expected to reach 0.5 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day (bscf/d) by mid-2024.

UK: Starmer’s call for 'no more investment in oil and gas' – OEUK response
Reuters has reported Keir Starmer’s announcement that there would be no new UK oil and gas fields under a Labour government. The Labour leader was speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) said policymakers should choose their words carefully. Many of its 400 members are leading the UK’s transition to greener energy systems.

UAE: ADNOC announces world first fully sequestered CO2 injection project
ADNOC has commenced work on a CO2 injection well, with 100% of injected CO2 to be captured and sequestered in Abu Dhabi’s carbonate saline aquifer. the project is part of ADNOC’s $15 billion multi-year action plan to decarbonize its operations and supports goal to reduce carbon intensity by 25% by 2030 and deliver on its Net Zero by 2050 ambition.

UK: The Crown Estate seals landmark agreements for offshore wind energy to power 7 million homes
In a major milestone for the UK’s energy security and net zero commitments, The Crown Estate has signed Agreements for Lease for six offshore wind projects which could begin to generate green electricity by the end of the decade and have the potential to generate c.8GW of renewable electricity, enough for more than seven million homes.

Jadestone Energy has executed a sale and purchase agreement with Salamander Energy (S.E. Asia), an affiliate of Medco Energi Internasional, to acquire a 9.52% non-operated interest in the producing Sinphuhorm gas field and a 27.2% interest in the Dong Mun gas discovery onshore northeast Thailand. The headline cash consideration is US$32.5 million.

Germany: bp reveals plans to evaluate expansion of Germany’s green energy port with a new hydrogen hub
bp will evaluate the feasibility of building a new hydrogen hub in Germany. The project, which would be located in Wilhelmshaven, is expected to include an industry leading ammonia cracker which could provide up to 130,000 tons of low-carbon hydrogen from green ammonia, per year, from 2028.

Norway: Equinor announces gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea
Equinor and partners Wintershall Dea and Petoro have made a commercial gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea in production licence 1128, estimated at between two and eleven billion standard cubic metres of recoverable gas. The Obelix Upflank discovery was made some 23 kms south of the Irpa gas discovery.
