Australia: Origin farms into prospective Canning Basin permits
Origin Energy has announced a farm-in with Buru Energy for seven permits covering 20,000 sq km in Western Australia’s prospective Canning Basin. Under the agreements, Origin secures a 50 per cent equity share in five permits with Buru Energy, and a 40 per cent equity share in two permits with Buru and Rey Resources in exchange for carrying $12.3 million of their share of work program costs.

Brazil: Petrobras signs contract for sale of onshore fields in Bahia
Petrobras has signed with Ouro Preto Energia Onshore, a wholly owned subsidiary of 3R Petroleum Óleo e Gás, a contract for the sale all of its stakes in fourteen onshore exploration and production fields, called Recôncavo Cluster, located in the state of Bahia. The sale value is US$ 250 million.

Oman: Masirah Oil spuds Yumna-2 development well in Block 50 offshore Oman
Rex International subsidiary, Masirah Oil, has spudded a second development well, Yumna-2, in the Yumna field. in Block 50, offshore Oman. A third development well will be drilled back-to-back with Yumna-2. The three production wells in the Yumna field have been positioned to optimally drain the reservoir and maximise recovery.

Norway: Neptune Energy given go-ahead for Gjoa expansion
The authorities have granted consent for start-up of a subsea installation with two new wells on the Gjøa field in the North Sea. Operator Neptune Energy estimates the project will add 2.4 million standard cubic metres of oil equivalent (15 million bbls o.e.) from Gjøa.

AIM-listed Maha Energy reports that the Tie-2 development well (7-TIE-2D-BA), on the Tie light oil field, onshore Brazil, is delivering oil rates above expectations, flowing oil and gas at a rate of 1,825 BOPD and 1,083 MSCFPD (2,005 BOEPD).

In century’s poorest licensing year, Norway led global awarded acreage, which reached 18-year low
The end of this year is set to make 2020 the year with the fewest concluded licensing rounds of the 21st century, a Rystad Energy analysis shows, as only 43 rounds have been completed so far, with very little upside potential left. Awarded acreage is estimated to be the lowest since 2002 at just over 324,000 sq kms, with Norway being this year’s global leader in total licensed area.
