Renewables could cover more than one-third of energy demand in CESEC

RWE researches large-scale storage for green electricity in salt caverns
RWE Gas Storage West and CMBlu Energy have initiated a collaborative project to investigate how RWE can utilise the salt caverns currently used for gas storage as large-scale, organic flow batteries. These underground caverns could potentially store capacities of up to several gigawatt hours of electricity from renewable sources.

Germany: Mittelplate to switch to 100 percent green power from shore to significantly reduce CO2 emissions
Wintershall Dea has switched the power supply to the Mittelplate Drilling and Production island in the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park to 100-percent certified electricity from renewable sources. This makes Mittelplate the first oilfield in Germany to be produced solely with green electricity.

Norway: Pandion Energy swaps licence interests with ConocoPhillips
Pandion Energy has entered into an agreement with ConocoPhillips to swap half of its 20 per cent interest in PL 1047 in the North Sea in exchange for ConocoPhillips’ 20 percent interest in PL 938, containing the Calypso prospect. PL 938 is located in the prolific Haltenbanken area in the Norwegian Sea in block 6407/8, just north of the Bauge and Hyme fields.

US onshore oil production set to gradually decline after peaking in August as drilling lags - Rystad Energy
Oil production from the US lower 48 states, excluding Gulf of Mexico, peaked at 9.2 million barrels per day in August following back-to-back increases since June. This climb has helped push the nationwide total above 11 million bpd and is likely to keep it above that mark for the rest of the year, according to Rystad Energy estimates.
