Norway: Aker BP granted drilling permit for well 30/11-15 in PL 035
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Aker BP a drilling permit for well for well 30/11-15 in PL 035. The well will be drilled by the Deepsea Stavanger semi-sub. Planned spud date is June 2023.

Canada: TotalEnergies to sell its 50% stake in Surmont oil sands asset to ConocoPhillips following exercise of its preemption right
In connection with the sale by TotalEnergies to Suncor Energy of the entirety of the shares of TotalEnergies EP Canada announced on April 27, 2023, ConocoPhillips has notified on May 26, 2023 TotalEnergies that it is exercising its preemption right to purchase the 50% interest in the Surmont asset held by TotalEnergies EP Canada.

Italy: Prospex provides Selva field development update
Prospex Energy reports that Po Valley, operator of the Selva gas field, has recovered the €757,000 performance bond previously deposited with the Italian national Transmission System Operator SNAM. The return of the bond follows the completion of the SNAM pipeline tie in connection, Gas Sales Agreement and transportation arrangements. First gas from the Podere Maiar - 1 well in the Selva field is contingent upon final Ministry approval.

Malaysia: PGS expands MultiClient coverage in the Sarawak North Luconia Province
PGS, together with JV consortium partners TGS and SLB have secured pre-funding to expand MultiClient 3D coverage in the prospective Sarawak Basin offshore Malaysia. The survey will cover approx. 6,800 sq kms and the Ramform Sovereign is scheduled to commence acquisition in June 2023 and complete in August.

Canada: ConocoPhillips to purchase remaining 50% interest in Surmont from TotalEnergies
ConocoPhillips is exercising its preemption right to purchase the remaining 50% interest in Surmont from TotalEnergies EP Canada for approx. $3 billion (CAD$4 billion), subject to customary adjustments, as well as contingent payments of up to approx. $325 million (CAD$440 million). ConocoPhillips currently holds a 50% interest as operator of Surmont and will own 100% upon closing.

Germany: RWE strengthens its position in the German offshore wind market by becoming sole owner of 1.6-GW Nordseecluster
RWE is strengthening its position in the German offshore market. The company has become the sole owner of a 1.6-gigawatt (GW) cluster of offshore wind farms in the German North Sea. The Nordseecluster, consisting of four sites located north of the island of Juist, was formerly co-developed with Canadian company Northland Power, which has now sold its 49% shareholding in the cluster to RWE.

TotalEnergies, operator of OML 130 offshore Nigeria, has announced the renewal of the production license on the block for 20 years. Located 150 kms off the Nigerian coast, the OML 130 block contains the prolific Akpo and Egina fields which came into production in 2009 and 2018 respectively.

UK: Westwood Insight - The UK’s 1st Carbon Storage Licence Round
On 18 May 2023, the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) announced the preliminary results of the UK’s 1st Carbon Storage Licensing Round with the offer of awards for 20 carbon storage licences to 12 companies. Westwood has reviewed each of the licences offered to identify the potential storage targets in depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs and saline aquifers.

UK: Labour’s proposals on oil and gas would undermine UK energy security, threaten jobs, and send import bills surging, says Offshore Energies UK
The UK’s offshore energy industry has warned Labour against 'simplistic' proposals to end new licenses for oil and gas – and repeated its plea for the party to engage further with industry. Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) issued its warning after reports in The Sunday Times that 'Sir Keir Starmer will announce plans to block all new North Sea oil and gas developments.'

US: Orsted to acquire Eversource share of uncontracted offshore wind seabed
Ørsted has signed an agreement to acquire Eversource Energy’s 50 % interest in the uncontracted federal offshore wind lease area currently owned jointly by the two companies. Acquisition further strengthens Ørsted’s offshore wind energy position in the US Northeast.

India: Cairn Oil & Gas gross Reserves plus Resources exceeds 1.1 billion barrels of oil equivalent
Cairn Oil & Gas, India's largest private oil and gas exploration and production Company, and a unit of Vedanta Group, has announced that its Reserves and Resources portfolio has crossed 1.1 Bboe. The Company plans to drill up to 20 exploration wells in the next two years targeting approx. 500 MMboe gross unrisked Prospective Resources.

Aker BP has awarded Heerema Vlissingen a contract for procurement and construction for the Munin jacket in the Yggdrasil area. Munin is an unmanned production platform in the northern part of the Yggdrasil area in the North Sea. Aibel is delivering the topsides.
