17 Jan 25	Science Based Targets initiative confirms that RWE’s emission reduction targets are in line with a 1.5-degree pathway After a thorough review process, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has confirmed that RWE’s climate targets to reduce its emissions across all corporate activities (Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions) and across all greenhouse gases (GHG) are in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees. Furthermore, the SBTi has validated RWE’s target to achieve net zero by 2040.

16 Jan 25	Sweden: Suomen Voima and Statkraft sign first PPA in Sweden Suomen Voima and Statkraft have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA), effective as of January 2025. The contract corresponds to an estimated annual volume of 100 GWh, produced in the Nedre Bjurfors hydropower plant and the Björkhöjden wind farm. Both plants are owned and operated by Statkraft and are in the Swedish bidding area SE2, making this deal Suomen Voima’s first on Swedish ground.

15 Jan 25	Germany: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners launches 800MW green hydrogen project in Northern Germany Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Energy Transition Fund (CI ETF I), and Friesen Elektra Green Energy have initiated project Anker, a green hydrogen production facility in Sande, Germany. The project is scheduled to have an electrolysis capacity of 400 MW with plans to expand capacity to 800 MW at a later stage.
