Norway: Equinor given consent for exploration drilling in Block 30/2 in the North Sea
Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority has given Equinor consent for exploration drilling in Block 30/2 in the North Sea. Equinor will drill pilot hole 30/2-U-1 in production licence PL 878, using the West Hercules semi-submersible drilling facility. The well is located north-west of the Huldra field in the North Sea.

Australia: Vintage Energy's Nangwarry-1 gas discovery has high CO2 content
Vintage Energy has been advised by the operator of the Otway Basin Joint Venture, Otway Energy, that laboratory-based analyses have indicated high CO2 content in two samples from the Nangwarry-1 gas discovery. Options for CO2 production and sale are to be investigated.

BP has announced that the first exploration well was spudded on the Shafag-Asiman offshore block in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea on 13 January. Shafag-Asiman has significant potential for a large-scale gas discovery. The well is planned to reach total depth of up to 7,000 metres, which is expected to take around nine months.

The well is currently being cased and suspended for potential stimulation, flow testing and future production.
