Norway: The North Sea - New times, new methods and new opportunities - NPD
More than 50 years have passed since the first commercial discovery of oil was made in the North Sea. The gigantic Johan Sverdrup field – which started production in 2019 – will produce for the next 50 years according to plan. There are still vast remaining resources on the Norwegian Shelf, and there is a high level of activity in the North Sea – both within exploration, development and operation.

Norway: Equinor awards TechnipFMC assignments worth up to NOK 1.8 billion
Equinor has awarded two contracts and issued a letter of intent to TechnipFMC for three projects on the Norwegian continental shelf. The projects in scope are Breidablikk and the Gas Import System for the Snorre Expansion Project, for which contracts have been awarded, and Askeladd Vest, for which a letter of intent has been issued. The total value of the three assignments, including the option, is about NOK 1.8 billion.

Italy: Eni acquires three wind projects in Italy for a total of 35 MW
Eni, through its subsidiary Eni New Energy, a group company that operates in Italy, has acquired from Asja Ambiente Italia 100% of the shares in CDGB Enrico, CDGB Laerte e Wind Park Laterza. The three wind farms, that will be built in Comune di Laterza, in the Puglia region, have a peak capacity of 35.2 MW and are expected to produce approx. 81 GWh annually, avoiding around 33,400 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Spirit Energy Norway a drilling permit for wildcat well 16/1-33 S in production licence PL 780. The well will be drilled about 5 kms north of the Ivar Aasen field in the central part of the North Sea.

Cheiron has announced that the GNN-4 well, which was drilled to appraise the recent GNN oil discovery, has been completed and successfully tested at initial rates of over 2,000 bopd. The discovery, which contains an estimated 260 MMbbls of oil in place, is located on the Geisum and Tawila West Concession.
